Mutation multipliers
A mutation is a permanent tag on one ore that multiplies its sell value. Coatings apply a chosen mutation; events and some pets apply one at random. An ore holds one mutation at a time, which is why "failed to apply mutation" pops up when a UFO visits an ore that is already coated.
| Mutation | Multiplier | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Rusty | x1.5 | Rust Coating ($10M) or the Rust Storm event |
| Frozen | x1.75 | Frost Coating ($750M) or the Blizzard event |
| Crystal | x2 | Crystal Coating ($1B) |
| Void | x2.25 | Void Coating ($10B) |
| Alien | x3.25 | Alien Coating ($100B) or a UFO abduction |
| Galaxy | x5 | Galaxy Coating ($1T) or the Galaxy event |
| Admin | not shown | Admin Coating Spray from the ADMINMUTATION code; players call it the strongest mutation |
Events that mutate ores for free
- UFO abduction — A UFO hovers over an ore and applies the Alien mutation. Fails with 'failed to apply mutation' if the ore is already mutated.
- Rust Storm — Rain over the base; ores can pick up the Rusty mutation.
- Blizzard — Snow event that can freeze ores (Frozen mutation).
- Black Hole — Server-wide event announced on screen during a session; ties to the Void-themed ores.
- Galaxy event — Chance at the Galaxy mutation without paying the $1T coating.
Which coating to buy first
- Rust Coating ($10M) on every Secret-tier ore. A Nebulite went from $25,000 to $38,000 per ore and repaid the coating in about two minutes.
- Buy an Ore Cleanser ($1M) before your first big coating. Stamping Galaxy on an ore you later fuse or replace is a $1T mistake; the Cleanser is the undo button.
- Crystal ($1B) is the first coating that moves an hourly total. One Divine ore with Crystal took a base from 8.7B to 10B an hour.
- Skip to Galaxy ($1T) once you own a Transcendent. Galaxy on a Devil Crystal went from 194M to nearly 1B per ore, ten times what the rest of the base made.
- Growth Gems only on a full floor. A gem speeds regeneration on every placed ore, so pop it after Equip Best, not while half the slots are empty. Devil's Growth Gems are free from the PETFUSION code and the Lucky Spin.
